Each election I create my “Craig’s Pics” voter recommendations for those who would like some suggestions on how to vote. Of course I also encourage everyone to conduct their own research and come to your own determinations.
For the November 3, 2020 election here are my Craig’s Pics November 3, 2020 General Election. I hope you find them helpful.
There are two other sites I recommend for voter recommendations. One is Robyn Nordell’s Conservative California Election Website Robyn does A LOT of research and she has recommendations for races I do not comment on. She is also a wonderful servant and a champion of the home school movement. Robyn kindly publishes my Craig’s Pics recommendations along with other conservative’s recommendations on her Orange County page. And we do not always agree!
The other site is Nancy’s Picks which is run by Nancy Sandoval. Like Robyn, Nancy spends A LOT of time researching candidates and issues. Nancy’s Picks is one of the other conservatives Robyn Nordell publishes on her Orange County page.
Whatever you do please do vote this election. Even if you feel your vote for President will not deliver the state to President Trump, there are so, so many other down ballot races that need your vote! Congressional candidates in your area need your vote. State Senate and Assembly candidates need your vote. Local races need your vote. If you do not vote, your voice will not count in your local city council races, school board races, etc., etc. Many men and women in the military have paid the ultimate price to secure our right to choose our leaders at election time. I highly recommend you vote this election! To find out how to register to vote in Orange County go to the Registrar of Voters web site for voter registration.

As March 3rd is only a few days away, I just wanted to remind voters (who have not cast a ballot yet) that there are voter recommendations by conservatives who do not get paid for their endorsements – people like Robyn Nordell and myself. And we do not always agree!

If you are looking for Voter Recommendations from conservatives who research candidates, propositions and measures on the March 3, 2020 ballot they are now available.

At Robyn’s web site there is an Orange County section where Robyn’s recommendations and others like Kathy Dittner’s, Nancy Sandoval’s and my own are linked. And we do not always agree on the candidates or issues! Evidence of that is we are evenly split on the race for the 73rd Assembly District. One thing we all have in common – none of us is paid anything by any candidate, cause or issue group (or any PAC, Super PAC, etc.) for our recommendations.
One thing to note: most of the people who look for and read my voter recommendations, Robyn’s, Kathy’s and/or Nancy’s are conservatives who normally vote Republican. This election is a Presidential Primary and President Donald J. Trump is running for re-election. Given that he is the incumbent and it is highly unlikely he will not be the nominee for this state, it may be tempting for Republicans to sit out this election. This is true whether you support the President or not.
Please do NOT stay home or not vote in this election. Even if you decide to leave the ballot blank for the Presidential race, there are many, many down ballot races that need your vote. Remember the “top two” jungle primary still applies to all other races such as Congress, Assembly, State Senate, local measures, etc. Your vote is needed to help carry good people into other offices. In addition there is a critical race for the Orange County Board of Education going on. There are three seats up and all the have good conservative school choice candidates to vote for (you only get one vote if you live in that area). They are Dr. Ken Williams (running for re-election), Jim Palmer, President of the Orange County Rescue Mission and Tim Shaw.
We also need your vote to vote NO on Proposition 13 which is a state wide bond tax (not the 1978 version) and No on local school bond tax measures like Measure M in the Saddleback Unified School District area and Measures H & I placed on the ballot by Capistrano Unified School District. http://www.nocusdbonds.com http://www.capokidsfirst.com and http://www.facebook.com/noonmeasuremtax/

This coming Tuesday, November 6, 2018 is Election Day. While a great many people have already voted by absentee ballot (now known as Mail In Ballot), there is still a strong contingent of people who go to the polling places and vote in person on Election Day. If you have not voted yet this post is for you.
As I stated in my earlier post on October 1, 2018, there is a stark contrast between what Republican candidates wish to do in Congress and what Democratic candidates wish to do. Here is a link to that post: What’s at Stake For Orange County Voters This November 6th?
Voting for Democrats is a vote for bigger, larger and more in your face government. Voting for Republicans is a vote for liberty, personal choice, the current economic boom, less government and less taxation. In my opinion not voting at all is a vote for Democrats. A few days ago Kathy Tavoularis penned an excellent article (that Chris Nguyen cross-posted here at O.C. Political) entitled: Are You Willing to Let Your Orange County Vote Be Bought by New York, Boston, and San Francisco?
Kathy’s article is 100% correct, insightful and clearly lays out that a vote for any of the Democratic candidates is really a vote for Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and what they stand for – not a vote against Donald Trump. If you are on the fence about voting for one of these Democratic candidates (or staying home and not voting), and especially if you are either a Republican or a conservative Independent / Libertarian voter, I highly recommend you read Kathy’s article before you step into the voting booth.

Every election year I put together my “Craig’s Pics” voter recommendations for conservative voters. As with every election, what we as voters do at the polls (who we elect or initiatives we pass / vote down) matter greatly. As you will see in my recommendations this year, I believe there is a stark contrast between electing Republicans versus Democrats.
There are some other awesome voter recommendations from people like Robyn Nordell, Nancy Sandoval, Craig Huey and Kathy Dittner. Robyn has her own web site and very kindly puts my recommendations, Nancy’s, Kathy’s and others one her site. Part of the fun is we do not always agree!
One common theme for all of us is none of us is paid one penny for our recommendations – none of us is “for hire.”

Its T-minus 4 days to Election Day June 5th! Starting June 6th we all get a short reprieve from endless TV political ads, Facebook arguments and mailers in our mail box from politicians and their friends and enemies over who we should vote for.
By now the vast majority of vote by mail voters have sent in their ballots. Its now time for those who vote at their polling places to start reviewing their sample ballots. If you need some well done recommendations by people like myself and Robyn Nordell (and Nancy Sandoval and Kathy Dittner) who do not receive any money for our recommendations for any candidate or proposition those are offered online (for free).

I have written about the Governor’s race on this blog before mostly about Travis Allen’s poor voting record on the life (abortion) issue: Travis Allen – Not So Pro-Life. This was after my friend Gina Gleason researched and put together her memo on Mr. Allen’s many, many abstentions on bills and resolutions about the abortion issue. Brenda Higgins (who supports Travis Allen) has also commented twice now on this blog of her reasons for her support of Mr. Allen. Once again I appreciate that Brenda is taking the high road and not attacking people like myself with personal character attacks. Brenda is a class act! This is in contrast to some people on Facebook whose response to our concerns are “You are evil for saying these things!” Thank you Brenda!
However as I said in my original response on this blog to Brenda (Voter Recommendations Still Available…), Mr. Allen himself has been completely silent in explaining his abstentions to these bills and resolutions. He knows of these concerns but he has said nothing. Silence is still not golden Mr. Allen!
The fact remains that if Mr. Allen is such a fighter for the causes he believes in and he says he is pro-life, his abstentions are not evidence of a fighter for the pro-life cause but of someone running away from the issue. An abstention is not a no vote. It is saying “I choose to be neutral” and to do so consistently on this issue overall! Folks World War II was not won by Switzerland who remained neutral. It was won by Britain, France, the United States, Russia and other allies who put their treasure and lives on the line. One abstention may be forgiven but a sting of them is a pattern and a conscious choice to duck the issue!
As I said in my prior post: “Finally one of the criticisms of John Cox has been that he voted for Gary Johnson for President in 2016. A bad decision but Mr. Cox has publicly admitted this was a mistake. The other argument against Mr. Cox is he has no voting record on the life issue. True – but I do for Mr. Allen and it is not good. So I am going to cast my vote for John Cox for the June 5th primary top two election. But if Mr. Allen and not Mr. Cox advances to the top two I will support his candidacy in November. Either Mr. Allen or Mr. Cox will be better than Gavin Newsom.”
I will add that I would like to see a Republican Governor’s race in the November run off. Mr. Cox is the best chance of that happening especially after his being endorsed by President Donald J. Trump. Otherwise we split the vote and it will be Gavin Newsom and Antonio Villaraigosa – two very leftist Democrats as our choices come November.
As an aside today I read that Arnold Schwarzenegger will not back either Mr. Cox or Mr. Allen (Schwarzenegger won’t vote for…). Given that Arnold Schwarzenegger did terrible damage to the Republican brand in California and continues to support ultra liberal causes like fake news climate change (a.k.a. government take over) legislation – I consider this a back handed endorsement of both of them.

Here at Casa Alexander we have received our mail in ballots. We will vote soon and end the string of political mail we have been getting every day.
As I noted before, if you are looking for help in voting Robyn Nordell has a very comprehensive web site with voter guides by people who are not paid a penny for their “endorsements” of any candidate or proposition. Here is my prior post on this: Looking for Voter Recommendations? Here are some?

I have already written about one race – the race for Governor: Travis Allen – Not So Pro Life!

Today I read Brenda Higgins’ post on this site about why she is voting for Travis Allen and her criticism of the analysis by persons like myself who have concluded that Mr. Allen’s many and consistent abstentions on bills, etc. on the life issue are incorrect. First I wish to say I appreciate her tone as she is not attacking anyone’s character – too many times in this campaign season I have seen the reaction to these facts has not been to refute the facts but to cry out “You are evil for saying these things!” Thank you Brenda for being civil about this. I have said this consistently (on Facebook and here) that either Travis Allen or John Cox would be a better Governor than any of the Democratic candidates and I will support Mr. Allen if he is one of the two candidates running in November (I believe the chances of both of them being the “top two” candidates is very slim indeed). Ms. Higgins respectful tone helps towards that end and I wish more people in both camps would take that route so we can unite behind one of the two after June 5th.
With all of that said I disagree with Ms. Higgins analysis. First if anyone needs to step up and explain Travis Allen’s votes it is Travis Allen himself. Yet he is very, very quiet on this issue and I am sure he knows of the criticism and position of people like myself. Why doesn’t he contact people like Gina Gleason who was one of the people who researched all of these votes and put out the memo I linked to in my prior post? Here is that memo again: Travis Allen 2018. Mr. Allen – silence is not golden!
In addition, while Ms. Higgins’ review of one of the pieces of legislation brings up good points about that specific bill, that does not explain at all why he abstained for so many bills and resolutions on the life issue. Why he did not join his fellow Republicans in voting no? Ms. Higgins states that Mr. Allen’s vote would not have mattered given the huge majority the Democrats have in the Assembly. By that logic none of the Assembly Republicans should have voted yes or no on any of the bills. Hum…we elected members of the Assembly to vote on bills even if they lose the votes. Otherwise why are they there? In fact, by this logic none of the Republicans in the Assembly should ever vote on any bill where they know their position will not win the day.
In my opinion the statement on behalf of Mr. Allen that “my vote doesn’t matter” does not square with the claim that Travis Allen is a fighter – a fighter for the pro-life cause or any other cause does not stand down and not register a vote of No to bad legislation!
What this string of abstentions (until 2018 as a candidate for Governor) tells me is either he was ducking the issue or he is “Not so Pro-Life” as he claims.
Finally one of the criticisms of John Cox has been that he voted for Gary Johnson for President in 2016. A bad decision but Mr. Cox has publicly admitted this was a mistake. Absentee ballots should be arriving in voter’s mailboxes starting today for the June 5, 2018 primary election. Many voters I know ask for advice on who to vote for during election season. To help them, I publish my Craig’s Picks Voter Recommendations. Other friends like Nancy Sandoval do as well. One of the best sources is the site maintained by my good friend Robyn Nordell. Robyn (like Nancy and I) does painstaking research about candidates and propositions then publishes her recommendations at her web site. Plus she is very kind to publish my own, Nancy’s and others’ (like some guy named John Moorlach!). We do not always agree on a particular race or proposition, but we all are pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and limited government. None of us take any money for “endorsements” or our recommendations for or against any candidate, proposition or measure.

Who is Robyn Nordell? She is an Orange County homeschool mother and advocate, a pastor’s wife, a tireless advocate for open and transparent government, a social and fiscal conservative and one of the most talented, honest, brightest and kind persons I know. Robyn does not get paid one penny for her work in researching candidates and ballot propositions / measures, putting together her voter recommendations and publishing them on her web site. Plus she is gracious to publish others voter recommendation lists (like my own) even when we make recommendations different from her own. She is a Patriot!

A long time ago friends of mine started asking me who to vote for on election day as they know I am involved in politics as an activist and I do research on candidates and causes. I began to prepare and send out by e-mail my voter recommendations which I call “Craig’s Pics.”
I also discovered that my friend Robyn Nordell was doing the same thing but she was several steps ahead of me by publishing her own web site called Robyn Nordell’s Conservative California Election Website. Robyn, a conservative Christian, does her own research which includes extensive interviews of candidates, other local elected officials who are her friends, other activists like myself and she attends every CRA endorsing convention even when she is not a delegate. Robyn always takes extensive notes of what she observes and hears form candidates and others commenting on the choices before voters. Several years ago Robyn offered to publish my Craig’s Pics on the Orange County portion of her web site along with other friends who also prepare their voter recommendations to distribute. I consider it a privilege to have my Pics on her site and to call Robyn a trusted friend.
One of the things I like about Robyn is that she and I do not always agree on our recommendations and some of our friends do not always agree with Robyn’s recommendations. Yet she publishes our Pics because Robyn is not looking for universal uniformity in our recommendations but for thoughtful conservatives giving their opinions and recommendations for voters. Are you looking for some voter recommendations that are well thought out and researched? Are you looking for a place to send friends who would like to receive recommendations for voters that are trustworthy? Then you can recommend friends and family to Robyn’s web site with confidence that you and they will see none of that there.
