Our Independence has been paid for with the blood of brave men & women

Posted by Thomas Gordon on July 6, 2012

Charlie Daniels wrote this piece and it is all over the internet. I’ve decided to reproduce it below.

This week we celebrate the 236th year of American independence, purchased and defended with the blood of patriots.

We won our Revolution against all odds fighting, what at that time was, the greatest standing army and most powerful navy in the world.

The Spirit of Freedom was strong in the hardy souls who came to the New World to escape tyranny and the class system of the European monarchies, to found a government of the people, by the people and for the people, a place where a common man’s vote meant just as much as the aristocrat’s. It had to be the will of Almighty God for there to be a United States of America, otherwise George Washington’s half starved, ill-equipped army would never have been victorious against the mighty redcoats.

From the hills of Tennessee, from the fishing villages of the Atlantic coastline, from Boston and New Orleans, from the swamps of South Carolina and the teeming streets of Baltimore they came, bringing their long rifles and their steel determination that this new nation would bow to no foreign power and that none but our own flag would fly above it.

America has always bred this kind of man, who sees his duty and does it. They did it at Guadalcanal, at Midway, in the skies over Tokyo, on the beaches of Normandy. In the Philippines and the sands of Iwo Jima.

They did it in the frozen mountains of Korea, the jungles of Vietnam and the deserts of Southwest Asia.

Some came home with empty sleeves and some with deep psychological wounds that changed the course of their lives. Some didn’t come home at all.

This Fourth of July as you enjoy your picnics and cookouts, as you take the family to the beach or slice the watermelon, I want to ask you a favor.

Will you take a few moments to remember and to remind the ones around you that the liberty which you celebrate on this very American holiday has been paid for by the blood of brave men and women who throughout the 236 years of our existence, have put their lives on the line, stood between you and the enemies that would like nothing better than destroying you, your family and the way of life you celebrate today?

And if you’re a praying person, would you offer up a prayer for those who remain in harms way, for the families who will forever have an empty place at the table, for those who patrol our skies, who guard our coasts and borders and those who stand ready to do battle on a moment’s notice?

In spite of the wrinkles and warts, in spite of the rough patches and uncertain times, we are still the greatest nation the world has ever known and in spite of our disagreements, under our different color skins, our diverse political philosophies and our ethnic backgrounds, we’re all Americans.

And I thank God for that fact.

Happy birthday, America and Americans!

The cover up is often worse than the crime

Posted by Thomas Gordon on June 21, 2012

After the recent hearings and prior to the vote on whether to charge Attorney General Eric Holder with Contempt of Congress for withholding documents that had been under subpoeana for well over a year, the President invoked Executive Privilege over those documents.

A US Border Agent was murdered as were hundreds of Mexican citizens as the result of actions taken at a level that appears to originate from the very top, otherwise this Executive Privilege decree would not have been invoked.

Executive Privilege did not work during Watergate, but it may work here because this lawless president simply ignores the other branches of government when they displease him.

Then Senator Obama appeared on Larry King Live in 2007 where he stated “Theres been a tendency on the part of this administration to try to hide behind executive privilege every time there’s something a little shaky that’s taken place”

One wonders what Barack Obama knows and when he knew it…….

Irvine based Newsong Church has pulled out of a deal to buy the historic 84 year old Santora Building from developer Michael Harrah for $6.2 Million.

According to sources, Harrah has allowed the building to deteriorate and Newsong requested repairs be made to bring it up to standard. It appears that Harrah declined the request.

What impact this will have on Michael Harrah’s One Broadway Plaza development is yet to be seen.

Is it time to shut down the OC Board of Education?

Posted by Thomas Gordon on May 30, 2012

Have you ever stopped to think about all the redundancy in the educational system?

US Department of Education, California Department of Education, Orange County Board of Education and 28 local school districts/Boards just in Orange County alone.

Is it all really necessary?

Does it really help the children?

With all the talk about local control, charter schools and voucher programs, what if we dissolved the OC Board of Education and distributed their 214 Million annual budget among the 28 local school districts in Orange County?

Thoughts?

Working Together to Raise Our Taxes??

Posted by Thomas Gordon on May 29, 2012

Why would Northern California’s Charles Munger Jr spend more than 500K of his own money on a race more than 400 miles from home?

The signs pictured above are littered all over Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach and appear to show Newport Beach Council Member Leslie Daigle and Bob Rush working together.

How so?

Not only were the signs printed at the same sign shop, but they were hung by the same political sign installer at the exact same time?

Coordinated effort?

Let us know if you are willing to send either to Sacramento and trust that they will hold the line on higher taxes.

Donate your political cash for community good…..

This evening Barack Obama drops by our quiet little state to pick up roughly $15 Million dollars from a few Hollywood types who agree with his stance that it’s unfair that they have so much money.

But what if that money went towards a better cause?

Roughly 46 children are diagnosed with cancer every day in the USA.

What if we each wrote a check today to CHOC instead of our favorite politician

You can by clicking here

Or what if instead we gave it to support those wounded warriors and their families who know what struggle and sacrifice really is.

Those brave warriors and their families can be helped by clicking here

Why were three 17 year olds robbing a medical marijuana clinic in Santa Ana at 2:15 AM?

Posted by Thomas Gordon on March 21, 2012

Just what were three 17 year old kids from Santa Ana doing out last night at 2:15 in the morning in the city that bills itself the 4th safest in America no less….

They were robbing a medical marijuana clinic along with an 18 year old named Gustavo Alexander Penaloza, when they were captured by SAPD.

With the assistance of a police helicopter they were arrested and booked into juvenile hall.

Santa Ana not only has an epidemic of teenagers roaming the streets at all hours of the night in violation of our curfew laws, but a multi-million dollar graffiti problem and an excessive drop out rate from Santa Ana Unified School District.

Where were their parents? Were these children no longer attending school?

Just what do you think should be done about this and who is ultimately to blame?

Last night the next Mayor of Orange, Jon Dumitru, invited me and you to his next fundraiser at one of the hippest joints in Downtown Orange, The District Lounge. If you’ve yet to visit now is the time.

Jon and his fellow Conservatives in Orange have done an amazing job in ensuring that business thrives in Orange and I’m looking forward to seeing the road ahead under Mayor Dumitru.

Just received word that HB Councilmember Matthew Harper has decided not to run for the 72nd AD.

Recently Westminster Councilmember Tyler Diep withdrew from the race.
