Recently, Ling-Ling Chang sent out a mail piece to voters in the Orange County portion of the 55th Assembly District.
The mail piece touts her “5 Point Plan to Create New Jobs”, which needs thorough plucking and inspection:
Proposal: Reform the tax code to focus on job creation.
Reality: Unfortunately, Chang was MIA as newly elected Walnut-Valley Water Board Director during the 2006 Diamond Bar’s Measure L ($34 Million Parcel Tax) that would have levied huge tax on residential, industrial and commercial property owners in perpetuity tied with COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment).
Proposal: Reduce regulatory burdens that chase jobs out of state.
Reality: In 2010, Councilwoman Chang voted to raise fees across the board tied with COLA for the next three years. We reported this issue regarding Steve Tye’s Fee-Tax Flip.
Proposal: Tax incentives for employers who hire new workers.
Reality: Such tax incentives has already been in place for years as employers are generally aware of the current $9,600 Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC).
Proposal: Cut government waste to keep taxes down.
Reality: Chang is endorsed by Senator Huff who was one of five GOP Senators who voted Yes on SB 11 (Pavley) that raised $2 Billion tax increase extension for smog abatement, vehicle registrations, boat registrations and tires.
Chang’s Jobs Plan falls short as her proposals which are dramatically different from the reality of the facts.
Therefore, the voters in the 55th Assembly District deserves better than a plucked chicken that would even fail the USDA inspection.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune Editorial Board had an Q & A session with the candidates running for State Assembly in the 55th Assembly District.
Assembly candidates Phillip Chen (R), Steve Tye (R) and Greg Fritchle (D) attended the meeting with the paper.
Unfortunately, Ling-Ling Chang was a no-show for a meeting with the Editorial Board. Chang also skipped out of last Tuesday’s candidate forum at the Salt and Light Ministry at Calvary Chapel in Diamond Bar.
Is it possible that she snubbed the meeting with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, because she did not earn the paper’s endorsement when she first ran for Diamond Bar City Council in 2009?
Though, Chang thought it was important to let the world know via Twitter that two mallard ducks came by her campaign headquarters last Saturday in Brea.
However, Chang should realize that quacking out of a meeting with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune is nothing to quack about.
If the voters in the 55th Assembly District can’t take Chang seriously as their next Assemblymember, then her candidacy is just all about quacks.

Phillip Chen Reports $334,000 Raised, with $319,00 Cash on Hand for Assembly Campaign
Yorba Linda, CA – – Republican School Board Member Phillip Chen is reporting $334,000 raised through June 30, and $319,000 cash on hand in his newly formed Assembly committee. Chen, a member of the Walnut Valley Unified School Board, is running in the 55th Assembly district currently represented by Assemblyman Curt Hagman, who is not running for reelection due to term limits.

OC Political learned that Diamond Bar Councilman Steve Tye who is up for council re-election this November is flirting a run for State Assembly in the 55th AD in 2014 as well.
When Tye was confronted about his flirtatious run for two offices replied, “Where did you hear that from?”
Pols should learn not to answer a question with a question.
Now, it begs the question: Why are pols bringing out the yardstick and the crystal ball?
Candidates should learn that running for office doesn’t allow you to use two lifelines as if running for public office is a game show.
Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills, District 55) is serving his third and final term in the lower house of the California legislature. Hagman is unable to run for another term due to term limit rules.
OC Political just learned today that Diamond Bar Councilwoman Ling-Ling Chang will be having her Assembly kickoff campaign at a fundraiser on May 31, 2013 in Rowland Heights.
The 55th Assembly District covers all or portions of the following cities: Brea, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, City of Industry, Placentia, Rowland Heights, Walnut, West Covina and Yorba Linda. The district leans Republican as the registration is 41% Republican, 31% Democrat and 22% No Party Preference (formerly known as DTS).
Councilwoman Chang is serving her first term on the Diamond Bar City Council who is up for election this November.
However, Chang has come out of the gate as the first Assembly candidate for the June 2014 Primary Election will raise some eyebrows for Diamond Bar voters.
We tried to reach out to Councilwoman Chang as to whether she is running for re-election for council AND Assembly and got no reply.
There are other potential candidates who are on the bench such as Placentia Councilman Jeremy Yamaguchi and Walnut-Valley Unified School District Trustee Phillip Chen, but have not declared as an Assembly candidate.
There maybe a wildcard candidate that could change the dynamics in the contest this contributor learned today.
Suffice to say that the 55th Assembly District will be one of many open seats in 2014 to be watched by many political observers.
