Royce Mailer Hits Chen on $716 Billion cuts from Medicare
Posted by Allen Wilson on September 22, 2012
Today, the Royce for Congress campaign has hit the mailboxes throughout the 39th CD (Diamond Bar, Fullerton) on a devastating glossy black and white four piece attack towards Democratic candidate for Congress Jay Chen.
It opens up with these words:
“Jay Chen supports CUTTING $716 Billion from Medicare — to pay for the Federal Health Care Take Over”
The insert goes on to say:
“Jay Chen’s plan for Health Care? Rob $716 Billion from Medicare, Tax Wheelchairs and Medical Devices, Bloat the federal bureaucracy with 159 new boards, agencies and programs to regulate doctors and patients”
“If you are like most Americans, you pay for Medicare with every paycheck you receive. It’s an investment you made – and deserve to collect”
It appears the continuing campaign theme of “Medicare” by Congressional Republicans campaign to retain control of the House by hitting the Democrats hard on the issue of $716 Billion cuts from Medicare to pay for the “Affordability Care Act” a.k.a. “Obamacare”.
My colleague, Chris Emami, penned his article dated September 10, 2012 entitled “2012 General Election Predictions: 39th Congressional District” predicting that Rep. Ed Royce will win the seat for the Republicans.
Though, Rep. Ed Royce is taking no chances and with $2 Million plus in his campaign war chest could help deliver the GOTV efforts not just for himself, but for other Republicans in the area like Senator Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) and Assemblymembers Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills) and Chris Norby (R-Fullerton).
The mailer is effective and by all accounts the campaign charge of accusing the Democrats of cutting $716 Billion from Medicare must by an indicator that is working, because key Congressional Democrats are increasingly writing off retaking control of the House in 2012.

Whenever I read extreme charges (from either party) I am suspicious and check out the charge by Ed Royce. That statement has really made me seriously consider voting for Jay Chen.

and the fact checkers say… “Mostly False”
What next? Royce has 6% body fat? How about a marathon or two? I can understand Ryan lying right and left, he’s not ready for prime time and the glare of the lights is making it hard to remember facts, so he is just making stuff up, but Royce should be phoning this in, and telling lies to instill fear in the voters is really just a very cheep shot. As Thomas said, it does give one a reason to vote against him once all the facts are on the table.
If I were Chen (and I had the money) I would hit back with a piece that quotes the fact checkers and say “How bad is it when you have X times more money to campaign, and all you can dig up is a known and proven lie to throw at your opponent? It was Democrats the created this safety net, and it’s Democrats that will keep it. It’s the Republicans that want to turn Medicare into underfunded vouchers and turn your savings from social security over to the same wall street barons that tanked the economy; who want the rich to pay less taxes, and to use austerity measure to cut your public services; It’s Royce and members of his party who support the Ryan budget, who support the Romeny plan, who were responsible for the lowering of America’s credit. More for the 1%, and less for the working class. As Romney said, they don’t care about the 47%; the military, the elderly, the kids in college and the working class struggling in the remnants of the Bush economy..”
Royce should have known better.

Royce’s claim is factually inaccurate; but then again, he backs the Ryan plan which turns Medicare into a voucher system; rationing…more expensive healthcare costs for seniors….since Royce is attacking Chen, it means he fears him.

Got this mailer… so sensational I had to look up both Royce and Chen. This is what I found: http://www.MeetEdRoyce.com
I won’t be voting for Royce! Can’t believe he would bash medicare cuts when he voted for the same cuts in the ryan plan.

You guys notice how this writer, this Allen Wilson, doesn’t even address, or seem to care, whether or not this mailer is a complete lie or not? And how he hasn’t been back on to defend it? All he cares is that it’s supposedly “effective.” Disgusting.
Anyway, where are these signs that “Congressional Democrats are increasingly writing off retaking control of the House in 2012?” I don’t see ’em. You guys’ equally mendacious Presidential ticket is dragging your party down at all levels, from what I can see. Keep lying though, what else have you got?
