Normally we allow all press releases and newsletters that are sent to us to be posted by the “Newsletter Reprint” blogger. In this particular case though I felt the need to blog it myself in order to disclose that Custom Campaigns is the consultant on this race:

Dr. Ken Williams Announces Re-Election Bid for Orange County Board of Education

Orange County, CA (February 21, 2012) – Orange County Board of Education member Dr. Ken Williams announced this morning that he will be running for re-election in the June primary.

During his first campaign for office in 1996, Williams defeated a twenty-year incumbent by running on a “back-to-basics education” theme that resonated with the voters of Trustee Area 3.  A home-grown community leader and native Orange Countian who graduated from the county’s public schools, Ken is a family physician in private medical practice since 1986. Dr. Williams is on staff at St. Joseph Hospital, Hoag Hospital, and family practice department chairman at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

“The cornerstones of my beliefs and principles are family, faith, and individual freedom,” Williams said. “I oppose federal and state mandates like No Child Left Behind, or any attempt by the big government to impose its policies on local governance, parents and locally elected leaders. Our children need twenty-first century knowledge and more academic seat time with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related subjects.”

As a member of the Orange County Board of Education, Williams has served his constituents as their consistent conservative voice on the board. He supports Prop 13 and no new taxes, traditional family values, student and campus safety, safe schools, high academic standards, educational accountability, parental rights, and a traditional  “back to basics” approach to education.

Williams has hired Custom Campaigns to run his re-election campaign, led by firm partners Chris Emami, Chris Nguyen, and Erik Brown.  Trustee Area 3 consists of the cities of Brea, Irvine, Orange, Villa Park, and Yorba Linda; the communities of Anaheim Hills and North Tustin; and portions of East Anaheim, Lake Forest, Tustin, and Orange County’s canyon communities.
