CRA has really stepped up their game this year thanks to OC Political author and CRA State Vice-President Craig Alexander. Take a look at this awesome slate mailer that went out throughout Orange County to voters. It is formatted like a newspaper with a list of endorsements and some advertisements.

This hit piece came across the wire yesterday from a reader. Travis Allen has put down a piece of mail that makes Troy Edgar look really bad. Take a look at the piece posted below:

Buena Park Councilman Charged With Perjury
Posted by Former Blogger Chris Emami on May 30, 2012
In a disappointing news release that just went out from the office of District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, it has been announced that Buena Park Councilman Miller Oh has been charged with six felony counts of perjury. This stems as a result of him allegedly using fraudulent information on DMV documents to get out of paying for child support. OC Political readers should know that we understand he is innocent until proven guilty, but this certainly does not look good.
Here is the press release:
BUENA PARK CITY COUNCIL MEMBER CHARGED WITH DMV DOCUMENT PERJURY TO AVOID CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENTS
SANTA ANA – A Buena Park City Council Member has been charged with repeatedly committing perjury on California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) documents to avoid paying child support to his ex-wife. Sangjin Miller Oh, 48, is charged with six felony counts of perjury by declaration and faces a maximum sentence of six years and four months in state prison if convicted. Oh will be arraigned on the charges at a later date to be determined.
Between Sept. 23, 2004, and July 20, 2009, Oh is accused of committing perjury on six occasions by signing official DMV documents using fraudulent information. The defendant is accused of committing this crime with the intention of avoiding child support payments to his ex-wife by hiding his assets under his false name.
On one occasion, Oh is accused of applying for a driver’s license under the name Robert Oh and fraudulently failing to disclose that he had previously applied for a license under a different name, as required by law. On another occasion, Oh is accused of fraudulently failing to disclose that his license had previously been suspended. On four other occasions, Oh is accused of using his fraudulently obtained license to register vehicles.
This case was investigated by the DMV, Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General.
Senior Deputy District Attorney John Christl of the Special Prosecutions Unit is prosecuting this case.

Last week anther one of Jim Lacy’s Slate Mailers dropped into my mailbox. As I said with the last one he does the best slates in the business, and this one is no different. I am noticing a consistent trend amongst the slate mailers for the candidates running for Central Committee.
Here is the slate:

CRP Mailbox: California Republican Party Sends Out Mail
Posted by Former Blogger Chris Emami on May 28, 2012
The California Republican Party sent out an awful mailer this past week trying to get voters to come out for their candidates. Generally if you are going to send out a mailer it is a good idea to include only candidates running in the district it is being sent in. As you can see this piece includes all candidates running in Orange County endorsed by the CRP.

Democrat Quirk-Silva Gets $200 from RINO Pat McKinley
Posted by Former Blogger Chris Emami on May 25, 2012
In News that should come as no surprise to anyone RINO Pat McKinley appeared on the campaign finance report of Democrat Sharon Quirk-Silva as a $200 donor. This tells me that McKinley recognizes that he is out the door after the June election.
It should be noted that Kelly’s Army has begun turning on Quirk-Silva because apparently they feel that she used them to attain the Mayorship to give herself a boost for her Assembly campaign.
The $200 check from McKinley was given to the Quirk-Silva campaign on April 6th.
McKinley was police chief for 16 years from 1993-2009 and appears to have been behind the hiring of all of the officers involved in the Kelly Thomas case. Even though he is a Republican, I would argue that he is more liberal than Quirk-Silva in his voting pattern. Bruce Whitaker is truly the gold standard for conservatism in Fullerton. some might even argue that McKinley is the one who created the culture that existed up until recently within the Fullerton Police Department.
Interestingly McKinley is the one who nominated Quirk-Silva to be Mayor. She was selected Mayor unanimously on a 5-0 voice vote (one of the few mistakes that Bruce Whitaker has made in my opinion). Whitaker might have been hoodwinked on this one though, because in fairness Quirk-Silva did nominate Whitaker to be Mayor Pro Tem though the motion was defeated 3-2.
Quirk- Silva is in a tight race for the Assembly against well known Republican Chris Norby. A contribution from McKinley is not a great thing to have turn up in her reports. (In the effort of full disclosure, Custom Campaigns has been hired to do some website work for the Norby campaign).

No On 29 Mailbox: The Campaign Keeps Consistent Message
Posted by Former Blogger Chris Emami on May 24, 2012
The No on 29 folks are doing a great job of getting their message out to the public. I received my fourth mailer so far this cycle from the campaign. As I have stated before I am just not a fan of the plain style of the mailer, but the messaging is excellent.
It is always a tough task to convince voters that raising taxes on cigarettes is not a good idea, and I don’t know that all of this mail will be enough to get the job done.

Slate Mailer Mailbox: Save Prop 13
Posted by Former Blogger Chris Emami on May 23, 2012
A good slate mailer has finally arrived. The Save Prop 13 mailer is one of the best in the business and it is one of the most common ones I see at my polling place when I go vote. Jim Lacy always does a fantastic job and I believe that his slate mailers will be the ones that survive even if candidates do realize what a scam slates are.
