Orange, CA (February 16, 2012) – Councilman Jon Dumitru announced today that he is running for Mayor of Orange.

First elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2008, Dumitru is the leading conservative on the City Council of Orange, which is one of America’s most conservative cities.  A home-grown civic leader active in numerous non-profit organizations and charities, Dumitru attended Orange public schools and currently works for the Orange County Fire Authority in the Emergency Command Center coordinating firefighters and paramedics.

“I was born in Orange, and I have lived here my entire life. This great city means everything to me, and I want to continue my service to our community as your next Mayor,” Dumitru said. “We stand at a crossroads: a lot of people are hurting in this weak economy, and I will fight to improve the lives of all Orange residents through lower taxes, increased individual liberty, greater respect for private property rights, and getting government out of the way of the job creators in the private sector.”

On the City Council, Dumitru has been a steadfast fiscal hawk with a proven track record of fighting for citizens’ personal freedoms, and his ability to work with the community and civic leaders will make Orange a better place to live and run a business.

“I love Orange, and I want to do my part in adding to the greatness of this city,” Dumitru said. “As an advocate for our schools and community projects, I will do everything in my power to serve the residents of Orange with every ounce of energy I have.”
