Every Mayor in AD 72 Endorses Troy Edgar for Assembly

Posted by Newsletter Reprint on September 28, 2012

This came over the wire from the Troy Edgar for Assembly campaign…

Every Mayor in AD 72 Endorses Edgar

Bi-partisan consensus to elect Edgar to State Assembly

ORANGE COUNTY – Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar and leading candidate for the 72nd Assembly District announces the endorsement of every Mayor in every City within the new 72nd Assembly District.

“It is an honor to have earned the support of my peers in the District.  Many of my fellow mayors have worked with me for years and they know that I will strive for the benefit of the local community,” said Edgar.

“As a veteran, I understand the importance of teamwork and finding colleagues who have your back and know that you will have theirs as well.  I am humbled that Fountain Valley Mayor John Collins, Garden Grove Mayor Bill Dalton, Huntington Beach Mayor Don Hansen, Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, Seal Beach Mayor Mike Levitt, and Westminster Mayor Margie Rice have all publically stated they have my back in the 72nd Assembly District,” Edgar added.

In addition to these local endorsements, Edgar has the support of every Republican member of the State Senate and the State Assembly representing Orange County in Sacramento.

Edgar is also endorsed and supported by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer’s Association, the Orange County Taxpayer’s Association, the Orange County Family PAC, the Orange County Business Council, the California Small Business Association, the California Women’s Leadership Association and the California Republican Assembly.

Troy Edgar is a husband and father of three sons, a homeowner, Navy veteran, owns and operates two businesses, and is serving his second term as Mayor of Los Alamitos.  Edgar is also a regionally recognized leader as evidenced by his election as the Chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District.  Troy and his wife Betty – a school teacher – live in Los Alamitos.

  1. There are far better choices said

Edgar locked up these endorsements long ago, many before his competitors entered the race, and after he quit his failing Congressional campaign.

What would these Mayors have to say today, after R. Scott Moxley’s revealing column this week on Edgar’s inability to honestly report campaign expenditures to the FEDS: http://www.ocweekly.com/2012-09-27/news/moxley-confidential-troy-edgar-los-alamitos/.

Would these Mayors also condone Edgar’s support of a renewed Telephone Utility Tax in Los Alamitos that not just sticks it to the elderly, but now goes after cell phone and broadband users?

Retread in an attempt to take the focus off the raw numbers…

    Those raw numbers are:

    Edgar: 18,060
    Allen: 37,692 (Allen + Dovinh + Pham)

That is a difference of 19,632 votes. In order for Edgar to get ahead of Allen he would need to convince 9817 of those people who already voted against him once to vote for him. Now he could reduce that by getting people that didn’t vote in the Primary to vote for him in the General, but Allen is trying to get those votes as well. So, even if they split those votes 70-30 in Edgar’s favor, the numbers don’t add up to a win.

Then we have the low information voter who is going there to vote for Romney or Obama. They look at the race and see two Republicans. Their vote doesn’t seem to matter here, and they don’t care. We already know that these voters overwhelmingly vote for the first name on the ballot. And that name is… Allen. This is generally worth up to a 10% bump (don’t believe me, just ask Dovinh who lost to Allen because the other (D) was the first (D) listed in the Primary). So Edgar will also have to overcome the Low Information Voter 10% BUMP that Allen will get.

So, in order to not have to deal with numerical realities we get a retread of an old press release all in Edgar’s name (the only “said” is Edgar) to attempt to take the focus off the real news that Allen has an effective lock on almost twice an many votes as Edgar has with the support of not only two of his Primary opponents, but with Joe Dovinh crossing party lines to endorse (a death of your political career if a Republican did it).

So good luck with your claim’s Mr. Edgar, but the political realities are that you have nothing new to say, you’re taking it in the shorts numerically, and with Moxley all over the case, you are being shown to not be ready for prime time (What else will he find in the next week? Do you have any idea that telling him that you “printed them at home” when he is looking at a copy of the invoice for your brochures just pissed off one of the better investigative reporters in the OC… lying to Moxley was a BIG error in judgement).

Is the race for the AD-72 over? Well, I hate to say that until the fat lady has started her aria, but the sound you hear is her warming up in the wings.

This is the third time that Edgar has sent this press release out. From the looks of it, Edgar is running a stale campaign with little of no positive news.

EDGAR IS A COMMON CRIMINAL! WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT ELSE HE HAS TRIED TO HIDE! THERE IS A REASON WHY THE STATE AND OC REPUBLICAN PARTY REFUSED TO GRANT HIM AN ENDORSEMENT !
MY GOD, NOW HE HAS DISCRASED OUR DISTRICT ATTORNEY BY PUTTING THE DA’S NAME AND QUOTE ON THE VERY DIRECT MAIL PIECE THAT HE ILLEGALLY FUNDED. I WONDER IF EDGAR EVEN HAD RECEIVED PERMISSION TO PLACE THE DA,S NAME ON THIS MAILER.
